WOMEN’S HANDBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2025 QUALIFICATION DRAW ANNOUNCED

The draw for the Women’s Handball World Championship 2025 qualification took place July 30 at the European Handball Federation (EHF) headquarters in Vienna. In the first phase, the Black Arrows are set to compete in a triangular tournament against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo. This exciting event is scheduled for the weekend of October 26 and 27. Stay tuned for more updates and match details as the tournament approaches.

CHERIF HAMANI NAMED NEW HEAD COACH OF RED WOLVES

Cherif Hamani has been appointed as the new head coach of the Red Wolves. The 42-year-old Frenchman, who has been coaching handball since 2002, led Tremblay to a championship title and promotion to the Starligue last season.

Hamani’s main goals with the Red Wolves are to qualify for the 2026 European Championship and to develop a unique team identity.

BLACK ARROWS RETURN TO INTERNATIONAL ARENA

The Black Arrows, the national women’s handball team, are making their long-awaited comeback to the international stage by participating in the 2025 World Championship qualifiers.

“This entry marks a first but extremely important step for the future of the Black Arrows,” stated Jean-François Hannosset, president of KBHB. “Finally, we can offer our young female talents the stage they deserve.”

Philippe Reinertz, currently coaching at KTSV Eupen, will join as the new assistant national team coach alongside Clément Petit. Jo Delpire, who will be moving from Sint-Truiden to Fémina Visé next year, will take on the role of team manager.

YÉRIME SYLLA STEPS DOWN AS NATIONAL COACH

Yérime Sylla will quit as national coach of the Red Wolves. The Frenchman is accepting an attractive and ambitious plan from another country. Yérime Sylla began his third term as national coach of the Belgian men’s handball team in October 2021. His biggest success is the Red Wolves’ first-ever qualification for a major tournament. In January 2023, the Belgians participated in the World Handball Championship.
